Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Some language disorders impact the individual's ability to communicate so significantly that they need to rely on other means of expression for effective interactions. This can include sign language, gestures, single words or computer assisted communication. When we put these different things together, we consider it to be a communication system.

Most insurances will provide coverage for communication devices with a specific evaluation to assess the specific features and needs of the individual. This evaluation is completed by a speech language pathologist and Kids Speak Therapy services can help.

Once the device is in place, both the child and their communication partners need assistance in understanding how to effectively use the system for daily interactions. Kids Speak is ready to help with this as well!
